In a move that underscores the importance of interoperability in healthcare, Mechanicsburg, PA-based ICSA labs, and Chicago, IL-based Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise-USA (IHE USA), a not-for-profit organization promoting standard–based interoperability in healthcare, have collaborated on a new program that certifies products to complement prevailing IHE integration profiles for establishing secure interoperability among various systems and software. The certification program will be launched at the 2013 North American Connectathon slated to be held from 28
th January to 1st February in Chicago.
A business division of Verizon, ICSA Labs provides third-party testing and certification services for health IT and security products and network devices in order to evaluate their performance, reliability, and compliance. ICSA Labs has accreditations from ISO/IEC 17025, a testing and calibration laboratory standard and the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), a part of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It is also accredited by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a certification body for EHR Technology.
